ζ Sphere of World
ZanarkandSituated at the northeast tip of Wilderia continent are the Zanarkand Ruins. Pyreflies from dead Summoners and Guards whose journeys ended there wander it, lighting up the night sky. With no Summoners there to send the dead, many have also turned into monsters. Pyreflies also inhabit the Yevon=Dome, endlessly replaying events of past Summoners who ended their journeys there in search of the Last Summoning. The Fayths on Gagazet Mountain have been dreaming an ideal Zanarkand back into reality, however they've grown tired. The Dream Zanarkand depicts the original Zanarkand but its location is unknown. The Jecht and Tidus we know were from the dream Zanarkand. Bevelle The point on the map where Wilderia and Djose continents are connected is Bevelle, a city which is half on land and half on sea. 1000 years ago the survivors of the war began to rebuild Spira, starting at Bevelle. The second Sin was soon reborn with Zaon as its core. Sin destroyed the remaining civilizations and seemed to target machines, which made the survivors give up on rebuilding other places. For reasons unknown to Spira, the Yevon religion began. A strict institution which preached that Sin was a punishment, especially to those who used machines. Peace Time would only be possible if a Summoner used their Last Summoning and defeated Sin. Currently Bevelle is the central home of the Yevon religion, a huge thriving city with Temples. The Yevon religion is unstoppable and has almost full influence over Spira's people. Anyone who doesn't follow the teachings or discovers the dark secrets about the religion are either punished or hunted down. Many High Priests also have the power to stay unsent, which allows for their influence to last a very long time after their death. It's in the Holy Bevelle Temple that people are tried (like a supreme court) and Bahamut's Fayth (the Mysterious Boy who Tidus 'knows') resides. Strangely enough, the path to the Hall of Trials and the Hall of Trials itself contain high technology, which the Yevon teachings are strongly opposed to. Bevelle is also where Braska originally lived and where he met Jecht, who ended up here when he disappeared from dream Zanarkand. Gagazet Mountain Gagazet is the northernmost area on the Wilderia Continent and where the large beast-like people of the Ronso Tribe reside. The Ronso have guarded the top of Gagazet Mountain for many years, only allowing Summoners on their journey to Zanarkand pass through. On the mountain are ruins and monuments to previous Summoners made by the Ronso. At the very top of the mountain one would find the people of Zanarkand from 1000 years ago. They've all been turned to Fayths and in their frozen state they are dreaming something. Beyond the mountain lies Zanarkand. Nagi Plains Also called the Calm Lands, it's a large expanse taking up most of the Wilderia Continent where many Summoners in the past have fought and lost against Sin. Summoners fight here because it's a desolate land where nobody can get hurt. One of the Summoners who fought there was Gandof. The fields are scarred with potmarks and leveled from the battles which have been fought there (like Bevelle and Zanarkand's battle). Most people travel across it on Chocobo. The Farplane The Farplane is comparable to heaven. Also known as Ikai. You can enter Guadosalam's Farplane by passing a gate at the top level. At this Farplane you can see Pyreflies taking the shape of people who have died and gone to the Farplane. No image of the living has ever been seen because pyreflies look into the hearts of the living and use what image is there to take form. If someone died while harboring negative emotions, they become monsters instead and cannot be seen in the Farplane. To be sent to Farplane, one must have either accepted their death, or had the Ikai Okuri (Farplane Sendoff) ritual done for them. Mushroom Rock Named for the mushroom shaped rocks, Mushroom Rock Canyon is where Mi'hen Session takes place. It was a suitable position because Sin (when travelling through water) would be cornered by cannons all around, while a cavalry would charge head on. Coming from the Canyon, Mushroom Rock Road takes you to Djose Temple. The temple is normally covered by floating rocks, and opens when a Summoner is in the Room of the Fayth. Also on the Djose continent near Mushroom Rock Road are the Mihen roads. The Mihen High Road (now known as the old one) was destroyed by Sin 500 years ago. A new one was built afterwards. • back |
